Trials

ree

Hey everyone,

I wanted to share a few thoughts regarding our recent trials—both the successful ones and the learning experiences.

First off, it is awesome that so many of you want to tackle Veteran Trials. It is completely normal to fail on the first few attempts; this is the hardest content in the game, after all. Bear in mind that we have bested most of them and only have three left to complete!

To help us knock out those final three, I have put together some guidelines to make our runs smoother and less stressful.

1. Leadership & Strategy

While I organise the team, I often pass the lead to experienced players like Vogorlo or Bely. I am still learning (except for Cloudrest—I could run that in my sleep!), so I rely on their expertise.

However, great ideas can come from anyone. A perfect example was Little Pharaoh’s suggestion on vHoF last night. Despite some doubts, we followed the advice to stack centre, and we cleared it immediately.

  • The Rule: There are many ways to skin a cat (or a Daedra), but we must follow one strategy at a time. If you have a suggestion, please voice it between pulls, not during the fight. Once the Raid Lead makes a call, we all commit to it 100%.

2. Comms Discipline (The Big One!)

Please, for the love of Vivec, keep comms clear during fights.

When everyone is shouting, it becomes impossible to hear the Raid Lead's instructions.

  • Clear Comms: Unless you are the Raid Lead or assigned a specific role (e.g., tank callouts), please stay off the mic during combat.

  • Useful Callouts Only: If you must speak, be specific. "Help me!" is useless. "Rez needed on [Player Name], back of room" is useful.

  • Stick to Keywords: If we agree that "Portal Safe" means the tank has taunted the shade, do not change it to "Okay to enter." Our brains are listening for the specific keyword.

3. Combat Etiquette

  • DDs Rez, Healers Heal: Healers cannot stop healing to resurrect, or the Tank/Group will die. If you are a DPS and see a dead player, it is your job to pick them up. Healers should only rez in absolute emergencies.

  • Self-Sustain: Healers can't be everywhere. Please slot a self-heal (Resolving Vigour or a Scribed skill) and bring Tri-Stat potions.

  • Don't Stand in Stupid: If a bright ring is growing under your feet, move! In Normal you can tank it; in Veteran, it will one-shot you.

  • Interrupts: Learn to bash/interrupt correctly. It saves lives.

4. Preparation Checklist

Before the invite goes out, please ensure you are "Raid Ready":

  • IRL Check: Bathroom, drink/snacks, vape/smoke—get it done before we start.

  • Inventory: Empty your bags so you aren't sorting loot mid-raid.

  • Gear/Consumables: Repair your gear, eat your food, and have plenty of soul gems and potions.

  • Visuals: If you are color blind (or just struggle to see red on red), adjust your enemy AOE colors in settings to something bright like Hot Pink or Yellow.

If we all follow these simple steps, we will spend less time dead on the floor and more time getting that loot.

See you in Tamriel!
